Notify a remarriage

How do I notify a remarriage?

The remarriage must be notified:

  • in person at a Social Insurance Agency branch; or
  • by letter addressed to the Social Insurance Agency headquarters (Sociálna poisťovňa, ústredie, Ul. 29. augusta č. 8, 813 63 Bratislava 1); or
  • via your electronic mailbox if you have activated it and you use an electronic citizen’s identity card – eID (you can find more information at the Central Government Portal slovensko.sk).

The Social Insurance Agency will then send you a written decision on the withdrawal of the widow’s/widower’s pension.

By when should the remarriage be notified?

You are obliged to notify a remarriage to the Social Insurance Agency within 8 days after the remarriage

What happens if I don't notify the remarriage?

In such case, you will be obliged to reimburse the amounts of the widow’s/widower’s pension paid to you by the Social Insurance Agency for the period in which you were not entitled to the pension.
